Chinese need controlled

Jackie Chan told a business gathering in China, "Is it better to have freedom or not? I'm not sure anymore. If it's too free it becomes like Hong Kong, very chaotic, or like Taiwan today. I'm starting to feel Chinese people need to be disciplined." The Chinese leaders in attendance applauded enthusiastically but Democracy supporters in Taiwan and Hong Kong protested his comments as 'racist'.

Taiwan is an independent nation that is rueld Democratically while Hong Kong is partially Democratic although the committe that selects the leader is stacked with Beijing loyalists.

In the past Chan publicly protested the Tianenment crackdown but hasn't annoyed China's totalitarian government as his films gain more audiences and as his star has risen in the country. China often bans films from being played that do not conform to the Chinese government's world view. Chan is vice chairman of the key industrial group, China Film Association and performed for Beijing's opening and closing ceremonies, as well as the torch relay.
