Michael Moore is a tax hypocrite
Michael Moore accepts Michigan's tax credits to film in the state.
The taxpayers of Michigan are shelling out cash to Michael Moore's movie production company for him to provide jobs and film in the state, the same thing he slams companies for doing in his new movie 'Capitalism'.
Michigan gives movie production companies 42 cents for every dollar they spend making movies in their state. Michael Moore explained that's why he moved there from NYC to take advantage of it.
Moore, who was born in Michigan, has been a champion for this corporate welfare scheme when he was appointed to the Michigan Film Office Advisory by Council Gov. Jennifer Granholm.
Here is what he told a Michigan newspaper about his favorite corporate welfare scheme:
"When the new film incentives were established, some in Hollywood said that it was an Internet rumor. My agent Ari Emanuel called and asked if this was real. I told him, yes, it is real, and he responded, 'I am getting this out to all of my clients because no state has anything close to this.'"
The people in Michigan, New York, and California have all lost out, according to Michael Moore, who slams these tax breaks and tax credits in his movie 'Capitalism', the same tax credits he receives and champions.
He later explained that tax credits really help people, but mysteriously left this out of his movie:
"Just after the incentives went into effect, about a dozen projects came into play. Then two months ago we were at 20, and as of today I am aware of 32 projects being considered for Michigan."
Michael Moore hates capitalism for giggles but secretly adores it and lives by its code while charging the taxpayers for his entertainment.
